Choosing a net
Raschel nets are available from 6 ply to 39 ply, and the mesh pattern (diamond, hexagonal and others) and colour are made to order. They are used as abalone seed nets, cockle culture nets, shellfish grow-out nets, collection nets and sports nets.
The seed net is used for cockle seed culture. Pyung Hwa Industry CO. holds patents for cockle seed culture nets and for an apparatus that manufactures seed culture nets.
The laver net is used to harvest laver, sea lettuce and other seaweed. Its side edges are sewn during production so it can be used as a collection bag.
